Kantech EntraPass Corporate vs Global: Anti-Passback

Comparison of Kantech EntraPass Corporate Edition vs Global Edition anti-passback features

Anti-Passback (APB) is a critical access control feature in Kantech EntraPass systems. It prevents a credential from being reused improperly, such as by card sharing or tailgating. Once a user enters through an “IN” reader, they must exit through the corresponding “OUT” reader before re-entering. If the sequence is not respected, the system denies access or logs the violation—ensuring tighter security and accountability.

How Anti-Passback Works in Access Control

System administrators can configure APB areas and choose the enforcement level:

  • Hard APB: Access is denied until the sequence is corrected.
  • Soft APB: Access is granted but the violation is logged.
  • Timed APB: The violation automatically clears after a defined period.

This flexibility makes an anti-passback system useful in offices, parking lots, warehouses, and high-security facilities where credential discipline is critical.

EntraPass Corporate Edition (CE)

In Kantech EntraPass Corporate Edition, Anti-Passback is limited to local enforcement on a single controller. Both the IN and OUT readers must be connected to the same Kantech KT-1, KT-2, or KT-4 controller.

  • The KT-2 is the modern replacement for the legacy KT-300, offering improved performance and features while maintaining compatibility with EntraPass.
  • The KT-4 is the modern replacement for the older KT-400, widely deployed in legacy installations.

This makes Corporate Edition ideal for controlling individual doors, parking gates, or restricted areas where local anti-passback control is sufficient. However, it cannot enforce APB across multiple controllers or sites.

EntraPass Global Edition (GE)

Kantech EntraPass Global Edition expands Anti-Passback beyond a single controller. With the KT-NCC (Network Communications Controller), APB rules can be enforced across multiple KT-1, KT-2, or KT-4 controllers and even multiple sites. This allows organizations such as campuses, hospitals, or multi-building enterprises to apply consistent anti-passback policies across their entire infrastructure.

Global Edition also benefits from centralized monitoring, real-time event tracking, and tighter integration with video management systems. This makes it the go-to choice for large-scale access control deployments where compliance and resilience matter.

Which Edition Fits Best?

  • Choose EntraPass Corporate Edition if you need local Anti-Passback on single doors or areas tied to one controller (KT-1, KT-2, or KT-4, including replacements for KT-300 and KT-400).
  • Choose EntraPass Global Edition if you need multi-controller or multi-site Anti-Passback enforcement, with centralized oversight and scalability.

At Titan Products Group, we support Canadian integrators and end-users in selecting the right Kantech EntraPass solution. Whether it’s local APB with Corporate Edition or enterprise-wide APB with Global Edition, Anti-Passback remains one of the most effective tools to strengthen access control security.
